Marked by Love

One of the greatest parts of being a Christian is that we are marked by love: God’s love. The greatest love that has ever existed; The most vivid example, proving that “God so loved the world.” The love that was displayed in Egypt when the doorposts were marked by the blood of a lamb and by their obedience the Israelites were saved.

The great Billy Graham stated, “The Blood of the lamb applied over the doorpost on the night of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt distinguished the obedient from the disobedient. Just so today the applied blood of the Lamp of God is the distinguishing mark of God’s called out ones, the church.” Just as the Israelites were marked and saved by their obedience with the blood of a lamb, today we are marked by a different blood. We are marked by the ultimate display of God’s love; we are marked by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Not only did God love the rebellious Israelites, He also loves each one of His children. Those He has called to Himself will forever live with Him. There is nothing that can break the love bond God has for His children. Romans 8:38-39 (ESV) tells us, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Nothing, absolutely nothing can septate us from the love of God. He has marked us, chosen us; we are His! He will never stop loving. The Proof of God’s love became the mark of love placed upon us. Jesus’ blood and death on the cross was the atonement for our sin.  It eliminated the eternal barrier between mankind and God.

Regardless of whether we are actively seeking Him or not, He still loves on us by sending other believers into our lives. LifeLight President Josh Brewer stated, “God loves us so much that he not only loves us Himself, but He also sends others to love on us. That is the beauty of the love of Jesus and the church.” He can reach us when we don’t want to be reached. He can speak to us when we plug our ears and don’t want to listen. He can take ahold of the heart, when all it feels to be is broken. There truly is nothing, no one, no thing that can separate us from the love of God.

No matter what we are going through, if we have been marked by God’s love, there is nothing that can separate us from Him. Have faith, remember this, and be encouraged.
