Music is said to speak a language that every heart can hear and touch souls in ways normal words cannot. Whatever your music genre of choice may be, I can almost guarantee you have felt this way at some point in your life. Whether you were at your lowest low, or your highest high, the music took you by storm, speaking into your very existence! Monday, March 25th, TheBlast.FM hosted a concert at LifeLight featuring Seventh Day Slumber, Righteous Vendetta, and Amongst the Giants.

It was such an incredible night! Christening our concert hall with screams, Amongst the Giants sang, “O God, I'm broken and twisted and hideous. Restore my life, restore my innocence. This is not what I was created for. This ends now.” Often, we turn away from music that is ‘not our taste,’ but there is always a message in the lyrics. It is not the look of the band or even their vocals. Those things are just unique tools God has given them to reach an audience; different audiences with the truth, love, and the hope found in Jesus Christ!

Throughout the excitement, sweat, and screams, Joseph Rojas, lead singer of Seventh Day Slumber took the stage and began to speak his heart. He said, “I’m here for more than a concert. All this lights and stuff are a front. I’m not here to be a Rockstar. The truth is, for 20 years if it was just about music, I would have quit a long time ago. The reason we are here, the real reason that we are here, is because we love you and we believe in a Living God that still puts broken people back together again.”

What a powerful testimony; spoken through experience and true knowledge of God’s love. There are so many things in life that without God, would not satisfy. He is our hope and joy throughout all life’s circumstances! He is the reason why we sing and the meaning behind the lyrics!

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. – Psalm 89:1 (ESV)
