Father, Forgive Us

Father forgive us.

F – Forgive us for everything we do; for everything we have done and for everything to come.

O – Open our hearts and our eyes to our unworthiness. Often, we feel entitled and forget who we are compared to You, but You are the only one who can make us whole.

R – Remind us that without You, we are and have nothing. You are our hope and salvation. Apart from you our time on this earth is futile, vain.

G – Grab ahold of our hearts and convict us of the very things You are trying to teach us. There is so much we can learn if we just lean on You and Your teachings.

I – Instill in us an awe of You. Awe of Your greatness and love which is unconditionally given to us, time and time again, even through our failure to live up to Your perfect standards.

V – Vanish our superficial thoughts and motives as we go about life. Take away from us all the self-serving desires that sin brings to our lives.

E – Embrace us in the intoxicating breathe of new life in You. You are the most desirable being in all the heavens and earth. Remind us of that daily.

U – Usher in peace, grace, and mercy into our lives as we cling onto You more and more each day.

S – Save us from ourselves, because we need saving more than we know. If we were left to ourselves, surely Your great wrath would be our only outcome. We need You and the work You did on the cross to bring us into the light of eternity.

“And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” – Luke 23:34 (ESV)
